I am very excited to begin working with another close-to-home muralist. This project sounds like a lot of fun. Come see us working in the atrium from July 8th to 17th.
Tallahassee-based artist Joelle Dietrick is a master of transforming data, particularly the errors and glitches in data systems, into pulsating site-specific paintings of architectural fragments and forms. Interspersed in the complexity of global economic systems, the artist finds inspiration in geological data for cargo ships and shipping containers at the local Jacksonville Port Authority (JaxPort). Through a precise layering of paint and strategically cut adhesive Phototex, Dietrick manipulates her statistical findings into a glitch art aesthetic for the multicolored floor-to-ceiling mural in the Atrium Gallery.
